The Power of Daily Habits: Small Changes for Big Impact
Let me start by being real with you—I’ve struggled with consistency in my life.
There have been days where I’ve felt like I’m running on fumes, trying to give my best to my work, my family, and the people who rely on me. But I’ve learned something that’s helped me turn things around: the power of daily habits. It wasn’t some overnight transformation.
It’s been a process, but I found that when I prioritize a few key habits—those little things that seem so simple—they completely change how I show up.
And I want to share them with you because they’ve become the fuel that powers everything I do. Here they are:
1. Chair Time
Chair Time is where it all starts for me. I sit down, grab my Bible or a spiritual book, and just take some time to connect spiritually. I used to brush this off, thinking I didn’t have time. But I’ve found that when I make this time sacred, my day just flows. It gives me a deep sense of purpose and clarity. I’m not just reacting to life—I’m aligned with something bigger. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or disconnected, start here. Even just 5 minutes of Chair Time can set the tone for your day.
2. Sharpen the Saw (STS) Time
I’ve always believed that we need to keep growing, and for me, that’s where STS Time comes in. Whether it’s reading a book, listening to a podcast, or watching something inspiring (Motiversity is one of my favorites on Youtube), this is my time to feed my mind. It’s amazing how much of an impact this can have on your energy and outlook. It doesn’t have to be a lot—just a little bit each day to sharpen your mind and stay curious. Over time, it’s made me a better leader, a better thinker, and honestly, a better person.
3. Sweat Time
This one’s straightforward, but it’s a game-changer. Getting my body moving every day does more than just keep me in shape—it clears my head and recharges my energy. Some days it’s a tough workout, and other days it’s just a quick 15-minute sweat session. But here’s what I know: after Sweat Time, I feel unstoppable. If you’re struggling to find motivation, start small. It’s not about the perfect workout; it’s about building the habit.
These three daily habits—Chair Time, STS Time, and Sweat Time—have become the foundation of my day.
They give me the fuel to perform at a high level and, most importantly, to serve others in a bigger way. And when I start my morning with these, I can tell you, the day just has an edge. But I didn’t always have this figured out.
There were times when I felt scattered and stuck in reactive mode. It wasn’t until I made these habits a priority that things really started to shift. I wasn’t trying to make huge, drastic changes—I was just committing to small, intentional actions, and that’s what made the difference.
Why Daily Habits Matter
You don’t need to overhaul your life to see big results. You just need to start with one or two small, consistent actions each day. When you stick with them, they start to compound. It’s like investing in yourself—the results grow exponentially over time. I know because I’ve seen it in my own life.
Start Today, Not Tomorrow
So here’s my challenge to you: start today. What’s one daily habit you can begin right now? It doesn’t have to be perfect, and it doesn’t have to take up a lot of time. Whether it’s a few minutes of reflection, a quick podcast, or just moving your body—it all adds up.
I’m not telling you this because it’s easy, but because it works. These habits have helped me stay grounded, focused, and ready for whatever life throws at me, and I believe they can do the same for you.
Call to Action: What’s Your Daily Habit?
Take a moment today to reflect.
What small action can you commit to that will make a difference in your life? Maybe it’s setting aside 5 minutes for Chair Time or getting in a quick walk to clear your head. Whatever it is, start today.
And I’d love to hear about it! Reply to this email and let me know the one daily habit you’re committing to this week. Let’s do this together—one small step at a time.
