A Proven Framework to Think Like an Athlete (Even at Work), Eliminate Self-Doubt, and Become a Top Performer

Sometimes, my biggest obstacle is myself, and the negative thoughts in my head take over.

Recognizing these negative thoughts is the first step to overcoming them. Most people don’t think like athletes at work, but they should.

So, what really defines peak performance in any area?

Many people believe peak performance comes from relentless practice and discipline. The logic is simple: the more you practice, the closer you get to perfection. However, Timothy Gallwey, in his book "The Inner Game of Tennis," offers a different view.

He suggests that peak performance (PP) is actually your potential (P) minus interference (I).

PP = P - I

In other words, the key to peak performance isn't just about improving potential but also reducing internal and external interferences that hinder performance.

These interferences can be self-doubt, anxiety, overthinking, or distractions. By focusing on minimizing these barriers, you can naturally perform at your best without unnecessary stress.

This perspective raises an important question:

How can you identify and effectively reduce the specific interferences in your life?

Realizing that peak performance isn't just about hard work but also about mental clarity and focus opens up new possibilities for personal growth.

Becoming aware of my own interferences was a game-changer. This formula helped me understand how to reduce self-doubt.

Do you know what your interferences are?
